The Person Behind the Camera
Hi there. My name is Rachel Betson and I am so excited you've reached my website! Sit back, enjoy your coffee, and let me tell you a little bit about the person behind the camera.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have been surrounded by the arts. Whether it was summer stock or writing camp, I soaked up every bit of creativity that I encountered. It wasn't until high school that I fell head over heels for photography. I found the whole process of developing film magical. Every step an imperative part of the next, similar to a jigsaw puzzle, where each piece has to fit “just right” to form a final product. I was hooked, I loved the trial and error; not knowing how something could turn out until I was in the dark room.
I haven't stopped pursuing my interest since then. I've worked on various weddings, family portraits, lifestyle, newborn sessions, all the way to products and headshots with no two being the same. My aesthetic is constantly evolving and I've learned what I really excel at, is telling a story through my lens. I love capturing moments that most people miss while “in the moment”. I aim to seize the raw emotion of whatever is happening and preserve that memory in a visual format. My skill is protecting that memory as authentically as possible. I’m able to do this by building a relationship with my clients so that they are comfortable in front of my camera. In this manner, I am able to gain their trust and catch unguarded moments.
When I'm not behind the camera, I am spending time with my awesome husband and two crazy kids. They're 15 months apart and let me tell you, they keep me on my toes! We reside in Hilltown Township and enjoy every bit of this area especially Free Will and the Perk! Summer nights are our absolute favorite, allowing us to watch a movie outside, hear the crickets, and watch lightening bugs. I live on coffee (it's basically a necessity at this point) and have been collecting funky mugs over the years. Every year for my birthday, my mother buys me an interesting mug, adding to my assortment.
There’s a saying that a photo is worth a thousand words. Why not have photos created which are worth YOUR thousand words? I'd be honored to be the photographer who captures that for you!
